Curriculum at Commerce ensures equitable access to rigorous college and career standards for all students. Our curriculum is highly rated across all categories by EdReports.org, an independent nonprofit designed to improve K-12 education through identification and adoption of the highest quality teaching and learning materials.

Early College and Internships

Students will engage in the following learning experiences at the High School of Commerce:
  • Choose from three college options, six applied careers workforce certificate programs, and/or three paid internship routes across the industries of Healthcare, Information Technology (IT), Advanced Manufacturing, and more. Accumulate up to 20 free college credits by the time you graduate or earn stackable credentials to begin your career right after graduation
  • Pathways Exploratory Class
    • Gain a hands-on introduction to life after Commerce, with a focus on the pathways available to you in IT, Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, and other leading regional industries

  • Advisory
    • Build relationships with your peers and advisor and develop social-emotional skills
  • Electives
    • Electives include ROTC, PE, Art, Music, and Spanish
  • X-Block
    • Select from high-interest, student-generated topics such as hair-braiding, boxing, robotics, and more

Pathways Schedule

Capitalize on a schedule that provides a distinct opportunity for personalization. Our flex-block scheduling allows all students to:

• Accelerate required course completion during the freshman and sophomore years, ensuring extensive time for early college and internships in the junior and senior years
• Extend learning when deeper support is needed
• Access regular interventions to ensure mastery of college and career skill
